India's Amit Kumar Saroha narrowly missed the bronze medal in the club throw F51 event at the Rio Paralympic Games here on Friday.
Saroha, an Arjuna awardee, finished fourth with a throw of 26.63 metres in his six attempts in the final at the Olympic stadium.
Serbia's Zeljko Dimitrijevic clinched the gold with a world record throw of 29.96m. His countryman Milos Mitic bagged the silver with a throw of 26.84m while Slovakia's Marian Kureja threw 26.82m to settle for the bronze medal.
India's other participant in the category, Dharambir Nain, finished a distant ninth with a throw of 21.39m.
The club throw is an athletic event where the purpose is to throw a wooden club. It is the Paralympic equivalent of the hammer throw.
