Adilet Kanybekovs 75th-minute goal helped Kyrgyzstan defeat Australia 1-0 in the Group B opener at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 Championship here on Friday.
Kyrgyzstan began the match on a positive note, constantly looking to take the game but they missed the opportunity which came in the 38th minute when Momoshev burst upfield on the counter before teeing up Gulzhigit Alykulov whose shot went straight to Australian goalkeeper Nicholas Suman.
In the second half, Australia pressed hard to equalise but did not step up to the chances as Joel King missed an early opportunity in the opening four minutes.
Soon Kyrgyzstan started counter attacking and scored in the 75th minute to clinch their first ever victory.
