Capital football club Atletico Madrid's defender Jose Maria Gimenez returned to training on Thursday after his absence from the previous training due to problems with his left foot.

The Uruguayan defender failed to complete Tuesday's training session but worked out on Thursday normally and without problems, reports Efe news agency.

Gimenez may be included in the squad for Saturday's game, unlike his Portuguese teammate Tiago Mendes, who still has knee discomfort since Monday's match against Villarreal.

The rest of Atletico players worked out normally in preparation for Las Palmas. Injured Jan Oblak, who underwent surgery on Wednesday, Augusto Fernandez, Alessio Cerci and Filipe Luis will miss Saturday's match.

Atletico are in crisis this season, as they are currently in sixth position in La Liga with 25 points, 12 points behind leaders Real Madrid.
