Atletico-MG scored a last-gasp equaliser to draw 2-2 with Botafogo at the Estadio Indpendencia in Belo Horizonte.
Wednesday's result meant Atletico avoided a fourth successive defeat in the league but cost Botafogo top spot. The Rio football club fell to second, behind Cruzeiro, reports Xinhua.
Atletico made a bright start but fell behind after 14 minutes when Elias glanced in a corner at the near post. Ronaldinho equalized just before the half hour with an excellent curling free-kick.
Just before the interval Luan missed a fantastic chance to give Atletico the lead but was thwarted twice by Jefferson in the Botafogo goal.
The second half was more open as neither coach looked willing to settle for a draw. On 58 minutes Lodeiro fired Botafogo into the lead for the second time in the match.
But victory was snatched from the Glorioso in the 94th minute when Luan's close-range volley grabbed a share of the points for the home side.
