Raul Bobadilla's 1-0 winner for 10-man Ausburg increased Borussia Dortmund's relegation worries after the 19th round of the German Bundesliga.
Rock-bottom Dortmund suffered their 11th loss of the season, as Juergen Klopp's men were unable to cancel out Raul Bobadilla's early goal of the second half Wednesday night, reports Xinhua.
The "BVB" started highly motivated against visitors from Augsburg, who focused on counter attacks.
However, it were the visitors who worked out the first noteworthy chance when Ji Dong-Won tried to overcome Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller with a lob from 23 metres.
As the match progressed, Dortmund took over but neither new arrival Kevin Kampel nor Marco Reus was able to break the deadlock from promising positions.
Things changed for the hosts after the restart as Augsburg opened the scoring five minutes into the second half through Bobadilla, who poked home Halil Altintop's build-up play.
Augsburg's Christoph Janker was shown a straight red card following a professional foul on Aubameyang, allowing Dortmund to pile on the pressure.
Nevertheless, Dortmund lacked in accuracy as unmarked Ciro Immobile had the chance to level the scores but instead headed into the arms of Augsburg goalkeeper Alexnader Manninger in the dying minutes of the game.
With the 11th loss of the season, Dortmund remain in last position while Augsburg climb to fourth position.
