Actor Frank Grillo has confirmed that he will reappear in the fourth instalment of the Marvel super-team series.
During an appearance on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, Grillo said that he would be making one more Marvel movie appearance as Brock Rumlow, also known as Hydra agent and terrorist Crossbones, despite dying in "Captain America: Civil War". He confirmed a long-standing rumour about the follow-up to "Avengers: Infinity War" at the same time, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
"He makes an appearance in the next Avengers movie," Grillo said about his character.
"But it's a flashback... I'm allowed to say whatever I want because I'm never doing another Marvel movie."
The reason why not, he revealed, had less to do with Rumlow's death and more to do with his age; "I'm 117 years old," he joked.
Grillo's statement follows leaked photographs from the "Avengers 4" shoot that appeared to show Chris Evans in a version of the Captain America costume from 2012's "The Avengers", standing in a set that resembles the New York setting of that movie, prompting fans to speculate about both a flashback sequence to happier, earlier times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or perhaps even a time-travel plotline.
Now, it would appear to be confirmed that some of "Avengers 4" will take place at some point prior to the Civil War, although just when is not clear yet.
"Avengers 4" will be released in May 3, 2019.
