A woman B.Ed student at a deemed university here Saturday committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan, police said.

Kavita Sharma, a student of Dayalbagh deemed university who lived in a rented room with her brother in Balkeshwar Kunj area, returned from her village after the Holi festival early Saturday.

She was supposed to attend an interview in the Khandari campus of Agra University. But when she did not turn up for the interview, a friend called on her mobile.

On not getting any response, the friend phoned her landlord whose daughter went to Kavita's room only to see her hanging from the fan.

Her family members said Kavita was a talented student and had completed her M.Phil degree last year. Police found no suicide note in the room.

On Friday, a Class 9 student from Taj Ganj area, tried to commit suicide after his mother scolded him for getting up late and not going for his daily exercise. He was admitted to a hospital where he is now reported to be out of danger.

On March 20, a Class 12 girl student in Sikandara area committed suicide due to pressure of studies. In January, a 14-year-old girl had killed herself by setting herself on fire.
