A number of Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech), postgraduates and graduates were among new Haryana Police constables to soon join their duties in this millennium city, a police officer said on Monday.
After completing training, course and passing out parade in Karnal, 1,324 constables, of which over 95 per cent were graduates, are all set to join their duties in Gurugram.
Police's Establishment Branch, which has been registering the names of constables reporting to the office of Gurugram Commissioner of Police, said that 1,060 constables have already done so and their re-medical examination was being done at Civil Hospital.
"New constables will be posted in four categories according to their professional qualifications and education," police PRO Ravinder Kumar told IANS.
"Four B.Tech pass outs will be posted in the Cyber Crime cell. Services of postgraduates, who are master in speaking fluent English and other foreign languages, will be used at Foreigner Registration Office (FRO) branch and in traffic police in upscale areas of the city," he said.
"Graduates and under graduates will be deployed at police stations in upscale localities. New appointments will help Gurugram police to uplift its face and make itself more professional and citizen friendly," he added.
Currently there are total 4,717 posts sanctioned in Gurugram (from Commissioner of Police to constable) and there were total 2,471 posts vacant including Joint Police Commissioner (1 post) and one Deputy Commissioner of Police (7 post sanctioned).
The number of total female police staff from Inspector rank (sanctioned 8, vacant 2) to constable is 692 with 268 vacant posts.
