Bajaj Auto's October sales down marginally

Two-and-three wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto Monday reported a marginal decline of 0.18 percent in its monthly sales for October at 385,323 units - down from 386,017 units sold in the corresponding month of 2013.

However, the company's exports during the period under review grew by 15 percent at 158,547 units from 138,022 units in October, 2013.

Segment-wise the company sold 336,923 units of motorcycles in the period under review, down three percent from 348,323 sold in the corresponding month of last year.

Commercial vehicle sales zoomed by 33 percent in October and stood at 49,094 units compared to 37,000 units in the like period of 2013.

For the fiscal 2014-15, the company sold a total of 2,430,029 units, up four percent from 2,325,928 units in 2013-14. The automobile manufacturer's exports during the fiscal grew by 24 percent at 1,119,607 units from 901,615 units in 2013-14.

Segment-wise the company sold 2,110,934 units of motorcycles in the period under review, up three percent from 2,057,764 units sold in 2013-14.

Commercial vehicle sales grew by 19 percent in the last fiscal and stood at 319,095 units from 268,164 units in the corresponding month of last fiscal.

The company's scrip at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was trading down 38.45 points or 1.47 percent around 2.00 p.m. Monday at Rs.2,570.60 from its previous day's close of Rs.2,609.05.
