Andrea Barzagli is forced to miss Italy's friendly against Nigeria in London due to muscle problem.
The Juventus defender pulled up injured during Italy's 1-1 draw with Germany at San Siro Friday, reported Xinhua.
He has been diagnosed with a slight pull of the left adductor, so is sent home ahead of Monday' s test at Craven Cottage.
Medics are confident Barzagli will be fit for next Saturday' s Serie A match between Juventus and Livorno.
Nigeria have qualified for the 2014 World Cup after beating Ethiopia 2-0 to go through the play-off 4-1 on aggregate.
A Victor Moses penalty and a strike from ex-Inter and Chievo striker Victor Obinna secured this second leg success.
They are also African champions, the first time that title has coincided with World Cup participation since 1994.
