Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng was Thursday banned for three matches following his red card in Tuesday's game against FC Schalke 04.
Boateng committed a professional foul against Sidney Sam in the 17th minute of the 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga match Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
The German Football Federation (DFB) said Boateng was suspended by its disciplinary tribunal for unsporting behaviour. He will miss Bayern's visits to VfB Stuttgart and SC Paderborn 07 and a home match against SV Hamburg.
