Steeve Guenot, the 2008 Olympic wrestling champion, has been banned for a year for missing doping tests, according to the French anti-doping agency.
The 29-year-old Guenot won gold in the 66kg category of the Greco-Roman competition of the 2008 Olympic Games and bronze in 2012 London Olympic. However, the French wrestling federation indicated Thursday that he missed the out-of-competition tests twice between February and July this year, reports Xinhua.
The federation said he never tested positive despite being regularly targeted since he won Olympic gold six years ago.
Guenot can not take part in any competition until July 30, 2015, which means that he will miss the European Games in Baku next June.
