The toll in a crude bomb explosion in West Bengal's Malda district rose to five on Monday, with a bomb disposal squad personnel succumbing to his injuries, police said.
The explosion occurred on Sunday night inside a house where crude bombs were allegedly made and stored in Baishnabnagar area of the district.
While four people were killed on Sunday night, three members of a bomb disposal squad (BDS) were wounded while trying to dispose of the remaining bombs.
The three injured personnel were rushed to the Malda Medical College and Hospital.
"One of three BDS members has succumbed to his injuries while the condition of another is critical. The toll in the incident now is five," Superintendent of Police S.W. Raza said.
