West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi Friday refused comment on the Saradha chit fund scam, saying he won't say anything about a "controversial matter".

"No, I am not going to speak on any controversial or political matter. You already know whatever has been printed (in newspapers), so I am not going to say anything," Tripathi told media persons who were seeking his comment on the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoning a state minister for questioning.

Senior Trinamool Congress leader and Textile Minister Shyamapada Mukherjee has been asked to appear before the ED in connection with a land that he sold to the Saradha Group in 2009.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool refused to read much into the minister's summoning by the ED, which along with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), is probing the multi-crore rupee scam.

"What should I say, the ED is doing what it has been asked to do. He (Mukherjee) has only been called for questioning; he has not been punished or even accused of any wrongdoing," Trinamool leader and Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee said.
