Enraged over a boy spraying colour on his official vehicle, a police officer in West Bengal's Nadia district allegedly dragged the child's father and thrashed him.
The district administration on Thursday initiated an inquiry into the incident which took place during Holi celebrations in Kalyani on Wednesday.
According to the police complaint filed by Manoranjan Sasmal, his seven-year-old son was playing with a sprinkler when he accidentally sprayed colour on the vehicle of assistant sub inspector (ASI) Suman Ghosh who was passing by.
Enraged over this, Ghosh allegedly thrashed Sasmal and dragged him to the police station. He was later released.
"On the basis of his complaint, an inquiry has been initiated. The ASI has denied the allegations," Additional Superintendent of Police (Nadia) Ajoy Prasad said.
