French footballer Karim Benzema, charged with complicity in the sex tape blackmail of his international team-mate Mathieu Valbuena, wants a confrontation with the player, according to media reports on Tuesday.

Alain Jakubowicz, one of the two lawyers of the Benzema, said on Tuesday he has already filed a request for the two players to meet, reports Ffe.

The judge in charge of the case has a month to decide, but the organisation of a meeting, should it receive approval, could take longer.

If rejected Benzema's lawyers can take it to the Court of Appeal.

Pending the decision of the judge, the player is also awaiting the verdict of the French Football Federation (FFF), which on Thursday will decide if he is to be temporarily suspended.

Benzema has explained that the charges are due to "a big misunderstanding" and that he wants to play for France in Euro 2016 alongside Valbuena.
