A police official in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district suffered injuries on his legs and hands while trying to escape an attempt to crush him under an excavator (JCB) machine at an illegal mining site.
S.S. Mishra, the sub-divisional official of Sirmaur area, told IANS that the police station in-charge of Sirmaur V.P. Singh was on patrol duty with his team at night when he noticed mining work being carried out. He then called out to the JCB driver.
According to Mishra, instead of coming to Singh, the JCB driver tried to crush him. But he managed to save his life. He fell into a ditch which caused him injuries on the hands and legs.
Police seized the JCB machine and arrested its driver Manoj Sahu as he tried to flee. A case was also filed against the JCB owner.
