Former India cricketer Arun Lal on Monday said an India-Pakistan bilateral series can help strengthening the ties between the two countries.
"Politics should not come in the way of sports, I welcome any bilateral series with any country," he told reporters here.
"I am a sports lover and I would love to see a series with Pakistan.
"You can improve the relation only if there is sports and people to people contact," he said.
Lal looked optimistic about the India-Pakistan series happening in the near future even though there has been no positive response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yet.
"Even if it does not happen now, it will happen sometime very soon, in the future," he said.
Lal had scored 729 runs from 16 Test matches for India.
