Claiming that its minority supporters and activists in West Bengal were being attacked by "Trinamool Congress goons", the BJP Thursday presented a memorandum to the minority affairs ministry to send a fact-finding team to assess the ground realities.

"The Trinamool's reign of terror is palpable across Bengal and the attacks by Trinamool goons have claimed five of our party members who were from the minority community. So we have submitted a memorandum urging the minority affairs ministry to send a fact-finding team to Bengal," BJP national secretary S.N. Singh said.

Signed by Singh and union Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo among others, the memorandum submitted to Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, claims that besides the killing of five BJP members, a host of party members and supporters have been injured or rendered homeless due to attacks by "Trinamool goons".

"The state government has effectively made the State Minority Commission and the State Human Rights Commission completely defunct and (these) are being very nakedly used for the benefit of the ruling Trinamool," the party said in the memorandum.

"Looking at the seriousness of the situation, where many lives, especially from minority community, have been affected or put to risk by Trinamool, we request you to send a team from your ministry to understand the ground reality," reads the memorandum.
