As BJP leader Narendra Modi was sworn-in as the 14th prime minister of the country at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Monday, there were celebrations in different parts of Delhi.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets at several places in the national capital.
Hundreds of party supporters gathered at the BJP headquarters at Ashoka Road in central Delhi and distributed sweets. A hawan (ritual) was also performed, praying to God for their dear leader Modi's successful tenure as the country's new prime minister.
In Old Delhi, the popular Chandni Chowk area was illuminated with decorative lights of all shades and hues in the evening.
Market associations in east Delhi's Laxmi Nagar area and Lajpat Nagar area in south Delhi also looked in jubilant mood as they distributed sweets among their shopkeepers.
BJP had made an elaborate arrangements by installing LED screens at various crossroads to enable people to watch Modi's oath ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan's forecourt in the presence of nearly 4,000 guests including SAARC leaders and other foreign dignitaries.
Also, the LEDs were installed in Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk area, and at places in New Delhi and West Delhi.
