A district BJP leader was shot dead on Sunday on the outskirts of Ranchi by unidentified criminals, police said.
Bharatiya Janata Party's Lohardagga district Treasurer Pankaj Gupta was shot by two persons at the Piska railway crossing.
A CCTV footage showed two youths arriving at the spot, with one of them shooting the BJP leader in the neck from behind.
Gupta had been coming to Nagari locality of Ranchi for the last two-three days to monitor construction of a boundary wall around a piece of land.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das condemned the crime.
Jharkhand authorities announced the setting up of a special task force to probe the killing.
