BJP leading in Delhi by-poll, AAP distant third

BJP candidate Manjinder Singh Sirsa was on Thursday leading his Congress rival by a margin of nearly 6,000 votes, pushing the ruling AAP to a distant third in Delhi's Rajouri Garden assembly constituency that voted on Sunday, according to the Election Commission.

The poll panel said on its website that Sirsa held his lead and was ahead of Meenakshi Chandela after the ninth round of counting. A total of 17 rounds of counting are to be held.

Sirsa polled 25,884 votes and Chandela 18,490. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Harjeet Singh secured 3,848 votes after nine rounds of counting.
