A BJP delegation Friday met West Bengal Governor K.N. Tripathi to seek his intervention in ensuring the Sep 13 by poll in two assembly constituencies are free and fair.
"Democracy was lost during the Lok Sabha polls under the Trinamool Congress regime. The bye elections need to bring the lost democracy in Bengal by holding free and fair elections," Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary S.N. Singh said after the meet.
Singh said the delegation discussed several matters with the governor including deployment of central security forces on all booths, and securing the borders amongst others.
"Governor heard us patiently and assured to uphold the constitution for having free n fare elections," he added Singh.
The bye-elections for the Basirhat South and Chowringhee assembly seats will be held Sep 13 and the votes will be counted Sep 16.
