Punjab Director General of Police V.K. Bhawra on Saturday released a book titled "Borderline" written by Shabri Prasad Singh here.
Bhawra said the book is a unique narrative on a mental illness called 'borderline personality disorder' which the protagonist, the daughter of a Punjab Police officer, suffers from after her father's sudden demise.
"This book highlights a taboo subject mental illness in a remarkable way through its strong narrative and storyline structure," he said.
This book deals with the internal churning of the mind of a mentally-ill patient and how the mind of the patient with help from doctors and therapy and self illumination heals itself.
He congratulated the author and said this book would be a useful addition to literature in medical science.
Inspector General Gurpreet Kaur Deo said author, Shabri Prasad Singh, is daughter of the late Inspector General R.C. Prasad of Punjab Police.
She herself had suffered from borderline personality disorder and through her book, she offers great insight and help for others who too may suffer from ailments of the mind.
Shabri Prasad said "Borderline" is the story of hope and recovery from a dark and dangerous disease.
