Boy dies after falling into water-filled pit

A seven-year-old boy died after falling into a water-filled pit at a construction site here, police said on Tuesday.

"It seems the child had gone to retrieve a ball that had fallen in the water that had accumulated in a pit at Collins Street where a building is being constructed," said an official of Park Street police station.

The police are investigating, the official said.
