A 10-year-old boy injured in an explosion at the site of a gunfight in Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, taking the number killed there to five.
Musharaf Fayaz was injured on January 25 in Shaigam village when an unexploded shell went off during debris clearance.
The boy was shifted to the super specialty Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar where he was put on life support system.
Hospital sources said the boy breathed his last on Thursday morning.
With his death, five civilians have died in the Shopian violence of January 25.
While three civilians were killed in Army firing in Ganowpora village, a fourth civilian was killed in Shaigam village during the gunfight between the security forces and militants.
