The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested a senior BSNL officer while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for passing pending bills of a person.
Bidika Chandra Gupta, Additional General Manager, Microwave Project (Bhubaneswar), was caught while demanding and accepting Rs 1 lakh from a contractor for passing his pending bills with BSNL, the CBI said in statement.
Earlier, the contractor had registered a case with the CBI in this regard.
Searches are being conducted at the office and residence of the arrested BSNL officer. He will be presented before a court, the statement added.
