Fifteen-year-old upcoming volleyballer Sangeeta Aich was stabbed to death in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Friday by a youth, police said.

The incident happened in Barasat in the district, when she was on her way to a coaching camp.

According to police complaint filed by the family, a youth who was stalking Sangeeta for last few days attacked her with sharp edged weapon after she rejected his advances.

"No arrest has been made as of yet now. We are pursuing the suspect," additional superintendent of police Tarun Halder said.

Sangeeta had participated in the junior category national level volleyball tournament.
