The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Tuesday said a case has been filed against Jindal Steel and others for alleged irregularities in allocation coal mines. Raids were being conducted in 19 locations here and in Hyderabad.
"It is alleged that two steel and iron companies based in Delhi misrepresented facts to get coal blocks. Also, there was alleged investment in a Hyderabad based firm from the group of companies based at Delhi," the premier probe agency said.
"Searches are being conducted today at 19 locations in Delhi and Hyderabad in connection with the case," the agency said, adding the case pertained to award of coal blocks in Jharkhand and had been referred to by the Central Vigilance Commissioner.
