The CBI on Tuesday arrested a junior engineer of the Delhi agriculture marketing board for accepting a bribe from a civil contractor for clearing his payment.
Ashok Kumar was taken into custody after he accepted Rs.25,000 from the contractor.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Kumar for demanding Rs.30,000 from the contractor, who had executed civil work in Ghazipur Mandi in east Delhi.
"We laid a trap and arrested Kumar red handed while accepting Rs.25,000 from the contractor," a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official sid.
CBI personnel also searched the office and residential premises of the engineer, who will be produced before the designated court on Wednesday.
