A manager of a colliery of the Western Coalfields Ltd. was arrested for bribery, the CBI said Wednesday.
"The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a manager (Mines), Rajur/Bhandewada Colliery (Maharashtra), Western Coalfields Ltd., for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant," a CBI statement said.
Western Coalfields Ltd. is one of the eight subsidiary companies of the Coal India Ltd., which is under administrative control of the coal ministry.
The manager allegedly demanded Rs.10,000 from the complainant for posting him at surface from underground mine.
"A trap was laid and he was caught red handed. Searches at residential and office premises of the accused have been conducted and the investigation is in progress," the statement added.
