CBI files eight more FIRs in Vyapam scam

The CBI on Wednesday registered eight new FIRs in connection with its ongoing probe into the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.

The first First Information Report was registered against three people on the charge of cheating by impersonation in the police constable recruitment test 2013.

The second FIR was registered against 13 people on the charge of cheating by impersonation in the police constable recruitment test conducted on September 30, 2012, by Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Vyapam), or the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB).

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the third case against six accused on the charge of cheating by impersonation in the Pre-Medical Test 2010.

The fourth case was registered against 20 people for cheating by impersonation in the police constable recruitment test 2013.

Two people were booked in another case on charges of cheating by impersonation in the police constable recruitment test 2012.

The sixth case was registered against nine people for cheating by impersonation in the same competitive exam.

Six accused were booked for cheating by impersonation in the Pre-Medical Test 2009.

The eighth FIR named six accused for cheating by impersonation in the Pre Medical Test 2009.

The FIRs were registered for cheating, criminal conspiracy and under the Information Technology Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and the Madhya Pradesh Recognised Examination Act.

The CBI has already registered 37 FIRs and launched 11 preliminary inquiries into the Vyapam scam.

The Supreme Court on July 9 handed over the Vyapam cases to the central agency from July 13. Over 40 people linked with the scam have died under mysterious circumstances or committed suicide.
