CBI nabs railway official for taking Rs.1 lakh bribe

The CBI caught a senior divisional electrical engineer of Western Railway red handed while taking a bribe of Rs.1 lakh, an official said on Wednesday.

The official was nabbed following a complaint by an aggrieved party that he was demanding a bribe of Rs.3 lakh for awarding a contract.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) laid a trap at the Western Railway Divisional Headquarters in Mumbai Central and nabbed the official while he was accepting the money from the complainant.

Searches were also carried out at his office and residence.

The official was on Wednesday produced before a special CBI judge who sent him to a day's police custody.
