The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered fresh cases against former minister of state for coal Dasari Narayan Rao and industrialist Naveen Jindal in connection with irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks, a official said Tuesday.
"Aprt from these two, a fresh case has been registered against Naveen Jindal's company Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, Gagan Sponge and two other companies," a CBI official said.
The investigating agency is carrying out raid in 15 places in Delhi and Hyderabad in connection with the case.
The CBI has told the Supreme Court, which is monitoring the case, that there have been "massive irregularities and illegalities" in the allocation of coal blocks. The issue cost Ashwini Kumar the law minister's job when it became known that he had vetted the CBI report before it was presented to the Supreme Court.
