CBSE Class 12 toppers say results 'unbelievable'

The toppers in the CBSE Class 12 examinations who got near-perfect scores were Thursday ecstatic, with one of them saying the results were "unbelievable".

Delhi girl Surbhi Sharma topped the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examinations in the humanities stream in Delhi region.

A student of the Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Roop Nagar in north Delhi, Surbhi scored 96.4 percent with 99 in psychology.

"This is a moment of pride for me and my family. I am very grateful to my parents as they showed confidence and trust in me. They never forced me to study. My teachers guided me throughout," Sharma told IANS.

G. Harishankaran from the Air Force Bal Bharati School in central Delhi topped the commerce stream in Delhi region with 99.2 percent marks, with perfect 100s in accountancy, business studies and economics.

"This is unbelievable. My parents had faith in me from the very beginning. I am happy that I didn't disappoint them and their expectations," Harishankaran told IANS.

Girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 88.52 percent, while boys had a pass percentage of 78.27 percent.

Vrinda Vinayak, a student of commerce at the Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, scored 98.4 percent and was one of the toppers among girls.

She scored perfect 100s in mathematics, economics and business studies.

"I am very excited. I want to thank my parents, teachers and every one of my friends who supported and showed their faith in me. This is a clear result of my hard work," Vrinda told IANS.

An elated Vrinda said she wanted to pursue law and was waiting for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) results.

Sartha Agarwal, a student of DPS Vasant Kunj topped the science stream for Delhi region with 99.6 percent marks.

He said he did not take any tuitions before the examination and mostly emphasised on the quality of hours he spent for studies.

Kunal Kapila, a student from DPS R.K. Puram, was one of the toppers in the science stream in Delhi with 98.2 percent marks. He scored perfect hundreds in chemistry and computer science.

Speaking to IANS, DPS R.K. Puram principal D.R. Saini said: "Coming out with flying colours in the board examinations has almost become a tradition of DPS R.K. Puram. I am happy that students of my school have created records."

He said 1,005 students appeared for the Class 12 examinations and over 900 scored over 75 percent.

"Our students have delivered both in quality and quantity. I have full faith in my students and am sure that in the future too, they will perform in the same way," he said.
