Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday accused the central government of not giving the money promised to the states ruled by his party.
"The chief ministers said the Modi government is promising money but not giving it. They (the centre) are giving money from one hand and taking it away from another," Gandhi told the media after a meeting of Congress chief ministers here.
He said that the Congress chief ministers were asked to work for the poor so as to "fill the gap" left by the central government.
"The central government has forgotten the poor and farmers.... I told our chief ministers to fill the gap being left by the central government...to focus on the poor," he added.
