Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday visited the family of Captain Aayush Yadav in Kanpur and blamed the Centre's "faulty defence policies" for the killings of Army men.
Captain Yadav was killed in a militant attack in Kupwara in Kashmir on Thursday.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) national President met the bereaved family at their Chakeri house and said it was sad that while militants were killing Army and paramilitary forces' personnel, the Narendra Modi government was doing nothing to stop this.
"The central government will have to think over the reasons for the attack on armed forces and killing of personnel both in and outside the country," the SP leader said.
"Though their loss is irreplaceable, I have come here to stand in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief," he added.
