Argentine winger Franco Cervi has arrived in Lisbon to join his new football club Benfica, aiming to emulate the success of his compatriots Nico Gaitan and Angel Di Maria.
In statements released on Saturday by the official channels of the Portuguese club, Cervi said he is quite similar to his two compatriots and hopes he will perform well in the attacking positions, reports Efe.
The 22-year-old moved from Rosario Central to start his first experience in Portugal.
He played 22 games last season with Rosario Central, scoring two goals and starting most matches.
His move to Benfica was closed and announced since mid-September 2015 for some 4.6 million euros ($5.1 million), according to Portuguese press.
Cervi acknowledged that he is eager to debut with Benfica as a starter and start the pre-season preparations, which begins on June 28.
