Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join hundreds of people in Chandigarh on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21.

Haryana's Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said the governments of Haryana and Punjab and the Chandigarh administration would jointly host International Yoga Day in Chandigarh on June 21.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be present on this occasion," Vij said here.

The event, being organised by the central government, is likely to be held at the sprawling Capitol Complex in Sector 1.

"More than 10,000 people from Haryana would participate in the event. The participants would include school and college students and teachers, Home Guards and police personnel," Vij said.

The UN had listed June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014.

The first International Yoga Day was celebrated in New Delhi last year with Modi leading the yoga enthusiasts.
