The toll due to swine flu in West Bengal Saturday rose to eight with the death of a two and-a-half-year old child at a city hospital while three fresh cases were reported, taking the total number of positive cases to 115, an official said.
"A child died today (Saturday) at a city hospital. Three fresh cases were detected. The total number of cases has reached 115," said Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Malay Kumar De.
Most of the cases are being reported from the North 24 Parganas district and from Kolkata while some were reported from Howrah and Hooghly districts.
De said two hospitals, out of the four private hospitals which had been served a showcause notice for discharging patients diagnosed with swine flu, have replied.
