Chinese shuttlers advance to Indonesia Open quarters

Chinese shuttlers Thursday marched into the quarterfinals of all the five categories in the Indonesia Open Super Series Premier here.

Women's doubles World No.1 Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang will play Indonesians Anneke Feinya Agustin and Della Destiara Haris after they stopped South Korean and Indian pairings to secure berths in quarterfinals. Another Chinese pair Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua would contend Pia Zebadiah Bernadet and Rizki Amelia Pradipta, reports Xinhua.

Eighth seeds Bao Yixin and Cheng Shu will meet Indonesians Nigtya Khrisinda Maheswari and Greysa Polii in the quarters. Meanwhile, No.5 Chinese pairing Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei would vie the winner of a qualifying match between Indonesian and Japanese shuttlers.

China's Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, the No.5 men's doubles pair, will take on Indonesian opponents Mochamad Achsan and Hendra Setiawan after they brushed aside Indonesian pairings to get to the quarterfinals.

No.7 Lu Xiaolong and Qiu Zihan from China withdrew from the match against English players Chris Adcock and Andrew Ellis and sent the English pair into the quarterfinals.

In the men's and women's singles events, China secured two berths in the quarterfinals after Du Pengyu and 2012 finalist Li Xuerui thrashed their respective opponents.

The No.8 Chinese player Pengyu takes on Indonesian Hayom Rumbaka meanwhile Li, seeded No.1, stopped Japanese player Kaori Imabeppu and will play South Korean player Bae Yeon Ju in the quarterfinals.

Chang Nan and Zhao Yunlei, China's third seeds secured a mixed doubles quarterfinal berth after beating their South Korean contender Baek Choel Sin and Ye Na Jang.

Ma Jin and Xu Chen, the No.1 mixed doubles pair, were scheduled to play against Indonesia's Markis Kido and Pia Zebadiah later in the evening to vie for a berth in quarterfinals.
