Chit fund scam accused MP released on parole, visits mother

Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh, in jail as an undertrial in the Saradha chit fund scam, was on Thursday released on a two-hour parole to enable him visit his ailing mother at a nursing home here.
The journalist turned politician, who is a suspended Trinamool Congress member of the upper house pf parliament, was taken to the nursing home in central Kolkata amidst tight security to spend time with his cancer-afflicted mother.
Ghosh was granted parole by Chief Judicial Magistrate Arabindra Mitra on humanitarian grounds.
Ghosh - the group CEO of Saradha Media - was arrested on November 23, 2013, for his alleged involvement in the multi-billion rupee scandal.
