Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova defeated No. 13 seed Daria Kasatkina of Russia 6-3, 7-6 (3) on Wednesday to advance to the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open.
Cibulkova continued the form which saw her eliminate world number one Simona Halep in round 2, seeing off the Wimbledon and Roland Garros quarter-finalist in one hour and 43 minutes, reports Efe news.
The Slovakian came out aggressively, hitting five winners in the first two games as Kasatkina struggled to cope with Cibulkova's firepower.
The Russian was able to challenge Cibulkova during a more evenly-matched second set, but the Slovakian ultimately edged the tight encounter.
Cibulkova advances to the quarter-finals, where she will face Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka.
