Showcasing Indian music across genres and generations and at the same time attempting to create opportunities for young, talented musicians to play, the three-month-long travelling festival 'Citi-NCPA Aadi Anant - 'from here to eternity, has arrived in Mumbai.
The 6th edition of the music festival will present performances here on December 10-11.
Hosted by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and Citi India, the festival is an attempt to bring together a bright amalgamation of rich artistic legacies existing in the country, especially the father-son duos who have excelled in the field of music.
The festival spanning six cities -- Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad -- will feature much acclaimed and respected maestros of classical music including masters like Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shiv Kumar Sharma (Santoor), Ashwini Bhide Deshpande (Vocal) and Shankar Mahadevan (Vocal), among others.
"In a bid to uphold the rich 'Guru Shishya' tradition of the country, Aadi Anant is an endeavour for the current generation to view and nurture creative excellence belonging to an eternal stream of time and knowledge," said Suvarnalata Rao, Head Programming -Indian Music, NCPA, in a statement.
