Green corridors connecting cities by compressed natural gas (CNG)-fuelled buses would soon be set up in the country, in line with India's commitment to reduce pollution levels made at the Paris climate talks COP-21, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Friday.
Launching various digital customer initiatives of state-run Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) here, Pradhan said that by February next year, CNG buses using type-IV cylinders will be plying separate services from Delhi to the cities of Agra, Chandigarh, Haridwar and Jaipur.
The Minister also said the waiting time for piped natural gas (PNG) connections for households has come down "drastically to an average of just one week, and people of NCR (National Capital Region) can now enjoy the clean, convenient and affordable fuel."
Pradhan launched IGL's CNG Queue Management System (QMS) which, through the "Oorja" mobile app, would provide information on the average waiting time at CNG stations.
He also launched the Social Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technology platform that will address customer queries, complaints, service requests and grievances on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
On the occasion, IGL also marked the crossing of one million domestic PNG customers in its areas of operation - Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Rewari.
