The Cochin Port Trust (CPT) will use dredged sand productively, an official said, adding the port had asked a government enterprise to conduct survey of the sand.

"Around 21 million cubic metres of dredged sand is currently being dumped by the port... and this if processed and sold can be additional revenue for the CPT," a top Cochin Port trust official told IANS.

The port has approached KITCO, a Kerala government enterprise, to submit a detailed project report on how they could use the dredged sand in the best manner.
