Odisha has asked its district collectors to complete the construction of new toilets and operationalise all old toilets under school sanitation programme by July 31, said an official on Wednesday.
"Complete those toilets allotted to PSUs on war-footing with construction of low cost functional toilets by July 31," Chief Secretary G.C. Pati told the collectors through a video conferencing.
The state government decided to take up the sanitation project after the central government sought a status report on the school toilet project.
The state government has estimated requirement of construction and renovation of 44,002 toilets in Odisha schools.
