Continuing its protests over load-shedding in Delhi, the Congress Monday held the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party responsible for the crisis in the national capital.

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely along with other party leaders Monday staged a sit-in at the National Highway No. 24 in east Delhi, disrupting traffic for a brief period.

"Electricity is not a political issue but an emotional issue for us. Delhi had the best power supply across the country," Lovely said, referring to the 15-year Congress rule in Delhi.

"These (the AAP and the BJP) people have made Delhi a power cut capital. It seems like we are not living in the capital but in a small town of Bihar," he said.

During the protest, effigies of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were burnt by the Congress workers.

The party has taken to streets, demanding immediate restoration of power supply in the capital. Delhi is reeling under power crisis following a storm May 30 damaged transmission lines.

The Congress was ousted from power in the 2013 assembly election.
