The core committee of the Congress party met here to discuss various issues including the fate of Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and Law Minister Ashwani Kumar following the demands for their resignation.
The meeting is being held at Prime Minister's Manmohan Singh's residence, party sources said.
Bansal was embroiled in controversy after his nephew was arrested for taking bribe to ensure a choice posting for a railway official, while Ashwani Kumar is under fire for vetting a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) report on the coal scam meant for the Supreme Court. Parliament was paralysed after the opposition demanded their resignation.
Ahead of the meeting, party president Sonia Gandhi met Defence Minister A.K. Antony and her political secretary Ahmed Patel.
The meeting may also discuss the situation following the Chinese incursion in Ladakh.
