Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday hoisted the party flag at the party headquarters here, marking the 130st Congress Foundation Day.
Senior party leaders including vice-president Rahul Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Sheila Dikshit and spokesperson Manish Tewari were present on the occasion at the AICC office at 24, Akbar Road.
Founded on December 28, 1885, the Congress held its first session on this day in Mumbai. It was attended by 72 delegates.
The state units of the Congress will also celebrate the day with a series of events during which tributes will be paid to Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and other Congress leaders.
